Fanny Brice – 1891-1951
Brice was a lovably homely stage comedienne, who shot to fame as a result of her 1921 star turn in the Ziegfeld Follies, when she debuted the torch song “My Man.” Her vaudeville, Broadway, and film career made her one of the most successful comediennes in American entertainment history, and her life was the subject of a hit 1964 musical, Funny Girl, which catapulted Barbra Streisand to stardom in the role of Brice.
